TVC Insights – Mid-Year Check In 2025

mm

With what we have and what we know I thought I’d reflect on the year so far as we pass the half-year mark. Below are some high-level insights for where we stand now and compared to last year’s total.

While we’re at 67 figures, there were 68 total for 2024. This year has a lot of figures coming from multi-packs totaling 21 figures, plus 5 figures from pack ins, and 5 figures funded by collectors in the HasLab. World-building has an incredible balance with multiple vehicles, creatures, and playsets. I don’t think we’ve had a year with that much world-building diversity in the 8 years of TVC 2.0’s existence.

  • 67 Figures that we know of. ~45 figures in hand with around 22 that we are waiting on.
    • 4 Deluxe Figures
      • Sabine Wren (Peridea), Imperial Armored Commando, Luke Skywalker (Tatooine), Momaw Nadon (Hammerhead)
    • 5 HasLab Figures
    • 6 Multipacks – 21 figures total!
      • Heir to the Empire, Stormtroopers of the Empire, The Journey of Anakin Skywalker, Snowtroopers, Battle Droids, Cantina Adventure
  • 2 Vehicles
    • Luke’s Land Speeder, Vader’s Advanced Tie.
  • 2 Creatures
    • Howler, Bantha
  • 1 HasLab – Mos Eisley Cantina
  • 2 Playsets
    • Mos Eisley Cantina, Streets of Mos Eisley

Tooling Breakdown

The TVC Breakdown Figure Analysis is embedded below and provides a breakdown that can be filtered by year and many other attributes. Below, I’ve highlighted what we know for the year minus the 5 HasLab figures where the backers have funded the tooling of new figures which seems like a first. So that leave us with 13 figures (vs 17) 100% newly tooled figures (1 of the Tonnikas is considered a partial tool).

Almost 50% of the figures revealed are partial tools meaning a portion of the figure is leveraging another figure’s parts. If you also remove troop builders which tend to use existing figures we see some stats on the large amount of OT figures but as we interact with the dashboard we learn most of them are existing figures. So again, go to the Release Type filter and deselect HasLab and Trooper Builder then click on the OT gray bar under the By Media Category bar chart. Some stats on the OT that centered around the Cantina HasLab.

  • 25 OT figures
    • 48% of them are already existing figures.
    • 18 of them on Star Wars cards aka A New Hope based.
      • 50% of those are existing.
      • 4 of the 5 all new are from A New Hope. (5th is the Snowtrooper)
  • 7 of the 13 (54%) of 100% newly tooled are Disney era characters.
    • 3 of them are from Disney Mando Verse media that’s 2+ years old. Nothing from Season 2 of Andor that premiered 2 months ago.

It’s been a very interesting year so far with some stunning figures, multiple figures, multiple playsets, and multiple creatures. We got Joruus C’baoth!!! We got definitive all new figures of Luke Skywalker, Hoth Snowtrooper, Hammerhead, soon to get Han, Chewie and Ben Kenobi. We got character debuts of Carson Teva, Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati, Jedi Master Indara, and Captain Pallaeon. We’re also finally getting more Bad Batch with character debut Crosshair. Some more animated love with a definitive Asajj Ventress and Luke Skywalker. We also got an updated Episode III Operation Nightfall Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker turned sith) that his some really cool sculpting using flexible PVC for his tunic to provide more realistic aesthetics and range of motion. We got Grand Admiral Thrawn!!! The photo real and likeness are uncanny, from Pallaeon, to Darth Vader, to Baylan Skoll. We got a bantha coming with synthetic faux fur/hair. Tonnikas are coming, repeat the Tonnikas are coming.
