The Gamorrean Guard Target Exclusive Brings it’s 4th “Release” in 3.75

mm

What could be the collector favorite release from TVC 1.0 (2010-2012), and still holds up today, received its second release during TVC 2.0 (2018-Present). It was released at least 4 times during TVC 1.0 as it was carried forward every major year of that TVC era. In 2014, during The Black Series 3.75″ line, it was released in the Rancor Pit set which also included Jabba the Hutt, Luke Skywalker, and Slave Leia. It was then releaseed in 2019 as a fan channel exclusive then presently as a U.S. only Target Exclusive release. There were 9 Gamorrean Guards at Jabba’s Palace so load up. You’ll need at least 9 in that dio and then a good amount of them were scene on his sail barge. Giddy up, oink, oink get some more while you can. Who knows if this is the last time or not that VC21 is released.

Front Profile

In 2010, it initially MSRP’d for $7.99, then in 2012 was $9.99, then in 2019 was $14.99, and presently $24.99. The front of the Card film out was cleaned up in 2019 to show the Gamorrean without over saturation and in 2025 we reverted to the single name in the pill as it were during 1.0 era. See the pictures below. From the back of the card perspective, I do miss the original figure release photos that Hasbro used to provide and I also miss the cross sell photos that ended in the last couple years during 2.0.

Working through the loose versions, I’ll note upfront the differences are not major at all. The 1.0 version has the best deco overall with the best weathering on his 3 weapons.

  • The 1.0 and TBS versions have gloss varnish on their snout, mouth, and chin to maintain the realistic slobber/mucus look
  • Those versions also have the best paint deco on their teeth.
  • The TBS Rancor Pit version has an abundant amount of “peach” deco tones in the face and really stands out. I enjoy this since it give a unique character look to him.
  • The weapons did get more sturdy/harder plastic during 2.0.
  • The 1.0 and 2019 versions have a more metallic look to their armor but again it’s subtle.
  • Don’t worry, the finger and toenail deco maintained through every release. fewww.
  • Unfortunately, the poofy skirt was never improved but that’s easily remedied with some scissor trimming.

The figure still slaps.
